UltraPixel vs Megapixel Currently I’m using both HTC One M8 that comes with Ultrapixel camera and HTC One M8 Eye that comes with Megapixel camera. Design wise both phones are same, but in specs and camera M8 Eye is slightly different such as M8 Eye comes with 13 MP rear camera, lack of IR blaster and NFC etc.
Most of the users are complaining about HTC Ultrapixel technology as they still see the camera through Megapixel eye and UltraPixel camera struggle in direct sunlight.
I’ve put both HTC One M8 and HTC One M8 Eye head to head to see how Ultrapixel performs against Megapixel.
HTC One M8
The One M8 comes with the HTC UltraPixel main camera with BSI Sensor, pixel size 2.0 um, sensor size 1/3″, f/2.0, 28mm lens. Duo camera will capture depth information
On front, M8 has 5MP BSI sensor, wide angle lens with HDR capability. Both cameras can record Full HD video.
HTC One M8 Eye
The One M8 Eye comes with 13MP primary camera, BSI sensor, f/2.0, 28mm lens and Duo camera will capture depth information.
On front, M8 Eye has 5MP BSI sensor with HDR Capability. Both cameras can record Full HD video.
No wide angle lens on front.
Both phones have almost the same hardware except the NFC, IR Blaster and wide angle lens which is missing in HTC One M8 Eye.

Let us know which camera technology is much better UltraPixel vs Megapixel.
Basically it’s down to personal preference.
UltraPixel produces colorful pictures while megapixel is more true to life. I choose the former but that’s just me
Your assertion that the One struggles in bright light is laughable; the exposure is completely under the control of the photographer; either by tapping on an area of the image to be captured, or by setting the exposure manually. For me, I find (looking at your examples) that the UP camera delivers equivalent results to the other in good lighting; but that it excels by far the other in low light. I see from these examples no reason whatever to waste another moment on the 13MP Eye variant; which will not only be slower to focus and capture but also delivers such dismal results.
Can you describe to the readers which photos were closest to what you could see with the naked eye? (Colors, brightness, etc).
