Asus has launched the latest flagship device of 2019 in India. Asus 6Z is the first phone that comes with a rotating camera. After the huge success of 5Z in India, this time also Asus managed to get the pricing right. Here is my review of the Asus 6Z in India.
Pros of Asus 6Z
- Top-Notch Performance
- Battery Life
- Daylight camera
- Notch less display
Cons of Asus 6Z
- Average low light camera
- May be heavy for some user
Hardware & Design
The Asus 6Z comes with Metal body with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on front & back. The device certainly looks premium in the first glance.
The phone comes with 6.4″ Full HD+ IPS LCD Display with resolution of 2340 x 1080 resolution and 600 nits brightness. The display is bright and the viewing angle is good can easily use in direct sunlight however Saturation level is not as good as AMOLED display. The company could have gone with AMOLED for added advantage.
The first thing you notice when you pick up the phone is the weight of the phone. Because of massive 5000 mAh battery and metal case the phone gets bulky. You can easily feel in your hands when you pick for the first time but soon you’ll get used to it.
At the bottom, you’ll find USB Type-C port, 3.5 mm jack and speaker.
on the right-hand side, you’ll find the power button, volume rocker and a dedicated Google Assistant button which double up as a shutter button when operating camera. This is very handy when you’re using a camera but for the Google Assistant usability, the button is on the top which makes it difficult to approach using one hand. However, the button can be customized for your own
Software
The Asus 6Z runs on Android 9.0 Pie with ZenUI 6.0 on top. The ZenUI 6.0 is very close to stock UI which makes it very lightweight on such powerful hardware. Recently Asus also speed up the update process of its every phone. Now almost every phone gets the latest security update.
The ZenUI added some spices in stock android to make it little delicious. The additional features include gestures such as a lift to check phone, lift the phone to answer the call automatically, double-tap to turn off or wake the screen, etc. The phone also has a built-in screen recorder, OptiFlex feature to save the battery life and gaming mode.
The phone comes with some bloat such as Facebook, Messenger apps but it can be uninstalled.
Performance
The Asus 6Z is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with Adreno 640 GPU. The Asus is using the latest & greatest processor currently available in the market. The Powerful processor is clubbed with 6/8 GB of RAM which makes it powerhouse which can easily push the heavy works like gaming & video processing a breeze.
You’ll not find any issue in day to day tasks, it runs pretty smoothly.
Camera
The phone packs a 48MP Sony IMX586 image sensor with 12 MP additional camera. The comes has F/1.79 aperture with laser autofocus and dual led flash. There is no front camera, the rear camera rotates and becomes the front camera.
The camera has a motorized flip mechanism that rotates to the 90-degree position and becomes the front camera.
When it comes to camera quality, the image quality is superb in daylight especially with the HDR+ auto setting ON. The camera detects lightning and decides whether to use HDR or not. There is also an HDR++ mode which is an advanced HDR mode and takes a few seconds to process the camera. The Night short is kinda hit & miss when we compare it with Pixel 3a and OnePlus 7 it definitely lacks behind. Asus needs to work on its Night time algorithm to make it better.
The wide-angle shots are better in most of the situations especially the edge distortion. You’ll definitely be using it more. However, the sharpness is less as compared to the main camera.
By default the phone shoot in 12 MP, to use the 48MP, you’ve to manually turn on the Camera resolutions from setting. However, in 48MP, the HDR+ and effect are not supported.
The rear and front camera is the same, so a selfie is experience is better as you can utilize the best camera for the selfie thanks to its motorized camera. And yes the Motorized camera is the crowd puller, everyone around you notice the camera and enquire about it.

Battery
The Asus 6Z is carrying the massive 5000 mAh battery, Asus know for using the 5000 mAh battery in its phone and this time Asus decided to use the massive battery in its flagship phone. Normally you won’t find the Good battery life in a flagship device, company sacrifice the battery capacity for the sake of its slickness and look.
The 5000 mAh battery makes it a top contender in its price range, many people prefer the flagship-level hardware with good battery life and Asus filled this gap with 6Z.
I’m continuously getting the 8+ Screen On time and the phone easily lasts for 2 days in heavy usage.
Conclusion
The Asus 6Z is directly competing with OnePlus 7 & Redmi K20 Pro. Both the phones are brilliant however Asus 6Z does have some weight age such as Massive Battery, Rotating Camera, and Stock Android with better update frequency as compared to Redmi.
The phone has a good display, battery life, performance, notch-less display, and a good camera. However, the phone does struggle in low light.
