Google India has launched its slightly affordable flagship device called Google Pixel 3a in India. The Google Pixel 3a pricing starts from 40K and comes with Google greatest camera. Here is my detailed review of Google Pixel 3a.
Pros of Google Pixel 3a
- Camera
- Software
- 3 Years of Software Update
- Small form factor
- Call quality & speaker
Cons of Google Pixel 3a
- Expensive in India
- No Dual SIM
Hardware & Design
The Google Pixel 3a comes with Polycarbonate body which might not look as premium as glass back but polycarbonate makes the phone more lighter and durable. The phone also feel solid in hand with good grip to hold the phone.
The Pixel 3a features 5.6″ Full Screen + OLED Display with resolution of 2220 x 1080 at 441 ppi and support of Always on display and Now Playing.
The Display is pretty good in terms of brightness, colors production and the viewing angles. However you’ll find higher resolution display in other phones in same budget. In my opinion Pixel display is best both on eyes and on battery.
At the bottom of the phone, you’ll find USB Type-C port and dual speaker.
The Power button & Volume button is on right hand side. One thing you’ll notice that Power button is above the Volume button. Normally you’ll find the reverse position.
Software
It’s is Google Phone so it comes with latest & Greatest Android OS. At present it running on Android 9.0 Pie. The PIxel 3a will be one of the first phone which will receive the Android Q updated.
Pixel Launcher is great and buttery smooth with Google Discover Integration. There is not much talk to Software depatment as it developed by Google itself. It’s very much polished and reguarly updated with new features through software updates both the through OTA and app store.
Performance
The Google Pixel 3a is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor with Adreno 615 GPU.
Out of box, the performance is pretty smooth despite the low powered processor. There is no hiccup in doing day to day task or playing games like the PUBG. However, you’ll see the limit of processor when you use the camera specially the nightsight and HDR. The phone takes slightly longer time to process and save on the device.
There is also a Titan M security module which encrypts and securely save the data on device.
Camera
The strong point of Google Pixel 3a is its camera. The camera of this device is too powerful despite no double or triple camera setup. The phone is powered by 12.2 MP dual pixel camera with OIS + EIS, f/1.8 aperture and 76 degree field of view.
The rear camera can record at 4K & Full HD @ 120 fps.
The phone camera quality is top notch. Google Software did brilliant job with processing of the images. Color production is up to the mark, white balance & sharpness is what you see on real life.
The Night Sight mode is the best part of the camera where Google combine multiple exposure images to produces the brighter photo in low light condition. Nigth sign not only brigtnen the photo but also keeping the colors of the images intact.
On the front camera, the Pixel 3a comes with 8 MP with f/2.0 aperture with 84° field of view. The photo quality is good specially the blur mode. Also with the help of Google Photos, you can add color pop effects in your selfie. Just capture the selfie camera and Google Photos AI detect the scene and add the desired effects using Google Photos.

Battery Life
The Google Pixel 3a comes with 3000 mAh battery with the support of fast charging. The Box comes with 18W USB Type C Charger which can fully charge the phone in just 90 min.
With single charge, the phone can last the entire day which includes phone calls, browsing, camera use and gaming. Also let you know that during my testing, Ambient Display and Song search feature is always ON.
Conclusion
The Google Pixel 3a is great phone despite selling at Rs. 39,999. The phone has much more value that you can see on paper. From camera to software everything is perfect and this two are the only things which we use in daily life.
